Neutral current coupling constants from neutrino- and antineutrino-electron scattering

چکیده
We are reporting on a determination of neutral current coupling constants from a study of differential cross sections of muon(anti)neutrino-electron scattering. The results were obtained with the CHARM-II detector which was exposed to the CERN wide band neutrino beam in the years 1987-1990. A total of about 2100 ve and 2200 ve scattering events were observed. From a comparison between the data and predicted event distributions, the effective vector and axial-vector neutral current coupling constants of the electron were determined to be g~, = 0.025 + 0.019 and g~, = 0.503 +_ 0.018.

Radiative Corrections to Neutrino Reactions off Proton and Deuteron
Radiative corrections are calculated for antineutrino proton quasielastic scattering, neutrino deuteron scattering, and the asymmetry of polarised neutron beta decay from which GA/GV is determined. A particular emphasis is given to the constant parts that are usually absorbed into the coupling constants, and thereby those that appear in the processes that concern us are unambiguously tied among...
متن کاملStrangeness in the nucleon : neutrino – nucleon and polarized electron – nucleon scattering
After the EMC and subsequent experiments at CERN, SLAC and DESY on the deep inelastic scattering of polarized leptons on polarized nucleons, it is now established that the Q 2 = 0 value of the axial strange form factor of the nucleon, a quantity which is connected with the spin of the proton and is quite relevant from the theoretical point of view, is relatively large. In this review we conside...

For neutrino scattering from polarized electron, the weak interaction term in the cross section is significantly suppressed by the polarized term. The magnetic moment term does not receive any correction from the electron polarization. Hence, the study of the magnetic moment of neutrinos through scattering from the polarized electron leads to a stronger bound on the neutrino magnetic moment com...
متن کاملNeutrino Mass and Magnetic Moment from Neutrino-electron Scattering
We study both the elastic (νe → νe) and the radiative process (νe → νeγ) and discuss how these processes can shed light on some current topics in neutrino physics such as a neutrino magnetic moment and neutrino oscillations. The radiative process allows to reach low values of Q without the need to operate at very small energies of recoil electrons, a favourable scenario to search for a neutrino...
